I’m in love with making my own facial mists (as you may have noticed). They take almost no time at all to whip up and you can customize them however you like! I have acne-prone skin, and at times I break out on my back and chest. This spray makes it easy to fight acne wherever it may pop up. The best part, it also acts as a moisturizer!
Aloe
- anti-inflammatory- aloe contains plant steroids and salicylic acid which both work to battle inflamed skin
- rebuilds damaged tissue
- perfect for sensitive skin
- replenishing- helps to remove dead skin cells and replenishes it with new ones
- antioxidants!- aloe contains beta carotene as well as vitamins C and E which give your skin a dose of nutrients
- excellent moisturizer- due to the fact that aloe has such a high moisture content it acts as the perfect light moisturizer for your skin.
- strengthens skin tissue- aloe provides oxygen to your skin keeping it healthy while strengthening skin tissue
Rose Water
- great for all skin types
- relieves redness and inflammation
- helps maintain your skin’s pH balance
- works to ward off fine lines and wrinkles
- improves acne-prone
- skin rose water is a non-drying astringent, this means that it removes excess oil from your skin and tones your pores without stripping them of moisture
Vegetable Glycerine
- natural humectant- which means it draws moisture to your skin
- helps skin retain moisture
- draws oxygen to the skin, strengthening skin tissue
- hypoallergenic & non-irritating- perfect for sensitive skin
- antibacterial- prevents breakouts and keeps skin clear
Witch Hazel
- antibacterial & antiseptic
- helps remove excess oil
- increases the blood flow near the skin’s surface- popped pimples heal faster
- helps to seal in moisture
- refreshing
Tea Tree Oil
- acne’s worst enemy- because it kills acne causing bacteria on the skin and has been proven just as effective as benzoyl-peroxide without the side effects of redness and peeling
- encourages blood flow to a specific area therefore speeding up the healing process and increasing the rate of new cellular growth
- with regular use it will help your skin retain moisture longer
- it has high antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties
I like to make a little more than necessary when I make sprays because I use them so often. This recipe makes 16oz, just like my Cooling Spray, since I keep this one in the fridge as well to refill my spray bottle when it runs out.
To make:
- 1/4 cup aloe
- 1/2 tbs tea tree oil
- 1 tbs vegetable glycerine
- 3/4 cup witch hazel
- 1 1/2 cup rose water
Combine ingredients in a glass jar (mason jars are always helpful) and shake well. Use a funnel if needed to pour your solution into a spray bottle, and that’s it!
To use: Simply shake and spray, wherever you need it, whenever you need it!
Enjoy!
